Good Morning Birder Friends!
The forecast for Sequim is SNOW! ! ! We don't get much snow around here, so this is quite unusual - AND it looks like there will be quite a bit of snow - AND it looks like it will stay around for a while because the temperatures are supposed to stay low for a few days after the snow falls!
Well ... you're probably wondering what all the excitement is about. I grew up in Nova Scotia and we had lots of snow almost every year. Since moving here, my personal biological clock gets out of whack when there's no snow in winter. Often, it seems we have a very, very long, wet and gray Fall that moves slowly into Spring. I sooooo miss the deep, quiet, slumber of winter.
The down side is, we live in a community of retirees who have moved here from 'snowless' climates and they don't have any experience driving in winter road conditions - hazardous! ! ! I hope they stay home and stay safe this weekend.
Even though the sky is heavy gray, I woke up this morning to some new visitors at my feeders! There was a Spotted Towhee and a few sparrows (I think that's what they were)! There were a few more Black Capped Chickadees on the ground and some even got up in the feeders (note the one on the hanging basket reaching to nibble on the peanut butter suet block!) They are soooo cute AND they stayed around just long enough for me to take photos!
I'm having trouble with window glare (sigh) and focus - I have a little digital camera and even though I'm shooting from only about 7 feet away, the quality isn't that great. One of the things I struggle with is not using a flash. I don't want to scare them away, but on a darker, cloudy morning - it doesn't work that great. Anyway, I did capture the moment and you can also see my solution for the broken cranberry seed wreath :)
Have a wonderful day everyone! and stay warm, safe and jolly!

Yay! New visitors! :c) I adore Towhees and I think that's a great solution to feed that wreath Diane! Enjoy your snow and have a beautiful weekend.
Hello Diane, It will be interesting to see how your yard list develops along with your bird sanctuary.
Welcome Lisa! I know, I've thought about that :) I am hoping that I can somehow create a 'natural look' and keep maintenance to a minimum. But, I'm sure that's the way everybody starts :)
