HELP!

(Sorry about the quality of the last two photos - not sure what happened)
When I bought this Cranberry seed wreath from WBU, I asked the lady about its 'integrity' with weather, etc. She assured me that she has one in her bird feeding area and that the gel that holds it together is very good. She claimed she doesn't even have it under a rain cover!
I was sceptical, but I loved the idea, so I bought one AND I bought a Squirrel Baffle to use as a rain cover - just incase.
Well...this is what happened - yesterday in broad daylight. I don't have squirrels, and I don't think a racoon would bother it in the day, if there was a racoon in the area.
Does anyone else use these kinds of treats in their stations? Is this a fluke? Any suggestions or information would be helpful.
Anyway... the little birds were back this morning and I AM SOOOO HAPPY! ! ! !
Happy Birding To All!

Hmmm... I've never used one, so I can't say for sure, but it looks like it fell where it was tied, and then the ground made short order of it. Heck, I'd crumble that puppy up and put it in a dish feeder. They'll still eat it. :c)

Thank you for telling me about your blogs and good luck with your bird sanctuary. Lucky little birds will be eating at your beautiful garden.

Thank you for telling me about your blog. It was very interesting and informative too. How fun it must be to watch for the little birds that visit your garden, and how appreciative they must be now that the weather has turned colder. Bless you, Diane.

Those wreaths are held together with a gelatin substance. I've used the seed ornaments which are made of the same product and they usually do OK unless the weather is damp or humid. I think the moisure dissolves the gelatin and then the weight of the seed just makes it release from the hanger. I work at WBU in Rochester, MN and this is the best explanation I can come up with. The other option would be a critter but I think they would've taken the pieces with them. Good luck with your sanctuary!

I bought 2 retangle ones, they both did it. Made me think I was stupid to think it would work. I have been looking for the baskets they would fit inside, but have not been able to find them local. That wouldn't work for your pretty wreath though. I think it was a great idea, they just need to improve on their products.

Welcome Anna Marie! Yes, your explanation pretty much describes it - and I imagined that's what could happen :) Oh well... I'm so glad you stopped by and left encouragement! Cheers!
