- I was born and raised on the east coast of Canada. I was a "stay-at-home" mom for 30 years with 6 wonderful children. I really can't imagine - even with all the media available. The moment I heard it, my heart seemed to break open for them. I don't know how they will recoup and restore, except that there is such a massive outpouring of aid coming from all over the world. I heard on the radio that the first 24 hours was the highest volume of "text giving" ever recorded. It was in reference to the amount of money people were giving to help.
